5 simple ways to get rid of those stubborn blackheads at home!

If there’s anything that can ruin a great day, just like acne, then it is blackheads! It terrorises everyone from young teenagers to older men and women alike. And sometimes even drives us to take extreme and dangerous steps to get rid of them, only to end up damaging our sensitive skin around the nose.

But no more worrying, as we present to you five simple ways to get rid of those stubborn blackheads off your skin while at home.

1.) Wash! Cleanse! Wash!

This is the simplest, yet the least followed tip for a good skin. We’re pretty sure that this isn’t the first time someone’s telling you that regularly washing your face can help you combat blackheads. Ideally, you must wash your face with clean water at least thrice a day. Once in the morning, either a simple wash or as a part of your skin care ritual. Once in the afternoon. You can usually do it during your lunch break, or before stepping out to grab a bite. And the third time to do it is once before going to sleep.

Regularly washing your face doesn’t let any impurities stay and get lodged on your pores. It is impurities such as dirt, oil and dead skin cells, combined together that clog the pores on your skin above the nose, as they get oxidized after contact with air for a long duration.

While frequest washing with water is the best. Our suggestion is to use this gentle Skin Clearing Wash by Dermalogica, once or even twice a day. As it cleanses your pores and smoothens the uneven texture of skin too.

2.) Keep your bed linen always clean.

This is actually a very important step towards avoiding formation of blackheads on your skin. A lot of the impurities that get stuck to your skin and your pores can come from the invisible dust and dirt particles on your linen, especially the pillow covers. We suggest using silk pillow cases instead of cotton ones, as they capture very little particle matter from the atmosphere around.

3.) Never miss exfoliation

One of the best ways to combat blackheads and get rid of them is by using a very good exfoliating product, like a scrub or a clay-based mask to dislodge even the most stubborn of all blackheads. If there’s one advice for good skin care that we always give, it is to never miss out on exfoliation as a part of your skincare regimen, no matter what the weather is.

Try this Exfoliate Scrub by Clinique. It helps to unclog pores, diminish dry lines and wrinkles to get a clearer and refreshed skin., this is one product we swear by, when it comes to getting rid of dead skin cells without scratching or causing more harm. You could also use an exfoliating brush to further aide exfoliation.

4.) Introduce clay-based products in your skincare

Clay is one of the best natural ingredients that exfoliate your skin gently. Using chemical cleansers and scrubs could end up stripping your skin of natural oils, leaving it dry and parched. But clay only absorbs the dirt and grime that clog the pores, giving your skin that radiant natural glow which is universally considered a sign of good skin health.

One of our personal favourites for a clay-based deep cleaner is the Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser, rich with water-soluble Kalon and Green Clays and the purifying extracts of sambucus, lemon and ivy.

5.) Never let sweat dry on your face.

We all love the post workout glow, don’t we? But do you know, one of the main reasons you get blackheads on your skin is because you let the sweat on your skin dry off naturally. The perspiration attracts minute, floating impurities from the air and gets clogged into the pores with the residual salts from the sweat.

And so you must always always always wash your face with water before the sweat dries off. While drying, don’t rub but rather pat your skin dry with a soft cloth or towel. Rubbing your skin hard, apart from harming sensitive skin, also means your pores might capture minute strands of the fabric.

Now that you know all that there is to know, dear reader, go forth and conquer those blackheads!
